Virginia

Brent is spending two weeks in Virginia with the Air Force. The boys and I went and spent about 5 days in Virginia Beach area this past week. One of the sites we went to see was the Battleship Wisconsin. The boys enjoyed checking out all the weapons that were on the battleship.

One afternoon we went to check out the beach. The boys love to play in the sand and waves.

Hunter likes to think he is going scuba diving.

One evening Grandma, Braden and I went letterboxing.
We found one box at a Church that was built in 1703. It had a cannonball embedded into the brick wall.

The second letterbox was down at Ghent. It had a gorgeous bridge and view of the Elizabeth River.

Another day, we drove to Williamsburg and went to Busch Gardens. Braden and Hunter had a ball doing the rides. Hunter was determined to ride the biggest rollercoaster that he was allowed to get on for his size. He succeeded.

The next day, we decided to take a Tall Ship Cruise.
The boys were given chances to steer the big ship.

On the way home, we decided to make a few stops. The first place we stopped was the Presidential Park. It had a statue of each of the US Presidents. The statues had amazing details and lots of facts about the presidents. At the end of the tour there was a mock oval office that the boys were able to check out. They were very intrigued by the desk thanks to the movie "National Treasure."

Our next adventure was an Animal Safari. We took an hour long ride through the park and were able to get up close and personal with the animals. Enjoy the pictures.

Charleston Falls - Letterboxing

Last night, we decided to go hiking at Charleston Falls. There are 2 letterboxes placed there. We found one of them. Here are some shots of the boys during the hike.

Swim Time

We spend a lot of time at the pool. Hunter has decided he is big enough to jump off the diving board into the 12 ft. water. Here are a few shots of his adventures.

Happy Fourth of July

This year we headed to Indiana for the Fourth of July. We had a good time with the Skaggs family. During the day, the boys went swimming, rode the green machine, and we introduced Jarrett to letter boxing. The evening we spent at the Silverhawks baseball game where we saw an excellent fireworks show. Oh yeah, we couldn't leave out the trip to Krispy Kreme Donuts.

Bonfire Time

We kicked off our summer with a bonfire at Grandma & Grandpa Jones's house. Hunter obviously enjoyed his marshmallows. Braden and Jarrett decided to rest in the tree.

Vacation

We spent a week in North Carolina visiting Brent's family. During the week we took up letter boxing. Letter boxing is where you are given a location to start and then follow a set of clues until you get to the final destination and the letter box. It was a lot of fun figuring out the clues. The first three pictures are of a trip to Croatan National Forest where we located 2 boxes. The hike stared on the boardwalk which is the first picture. The second pictures was about a mile into the forest where they started to look for the first box. Hunter found a gecko that interested him more than the box. Braden found the box. Then we went in search of the next box. The last picture is where we found the box. It ended up being a 2 mile hike for us. We also had to rush because the park was about to close. It was a lot of fun finding the boxes.

Another day, we took the afternoon and headed to the nearby aquarium. Of course, there was a letter box to be found. The boys found a turtle on this adventure which had to constantly use the restroom.

These are a few of our adventures on this vacation. I wanted to see how this blog worked. If it works ok, then I will attempt to keep it up. Enjoy!
